Thompson has carved a niche for himself as a brilliant and an experienced litigator who heads one of the sub-teams in the Firm’s Dispute Resolution Practice Group.

Over the years, he has regularly been engaged as a dispute resolution practitioner in superior courts in Nigeria in the resolution of complex domestic and cross-border disputes covering different industry sectors such as energy/natural resources, labour / industrial relations, taxation, telecommunications, amongst others.

Thompson has also advised and represented sophisticated commercial clients through the entire dispute resolution cycle, ranging from commencement of proceedings to judgments, and enforcements.

Notable achievements

• Successful defence of multiple suits involving illegal tax imposition of over N200 billion on major indigenous oil companies.
• Successful defence of multiple suits involving claims of over N100 billion arising from oil pollution.
• Successful defence of multiple employment-related suits against multinational companies for wrongful termination of employment.
• Successful defence of multiple suits involving claims for damages for trespass to land in excess of N10 billion.
